U.S. Attorney Boente called it a difficult day for Virginia and its citizens after former Governor Bob McDonnell (R) was found guilty on 11 out of 13 corruption charges. His wife was also convicted on nine charges. FBI Special Agent in Charge Lee said that the case sent an important message that the Federal Bureau of Investigation would pursue any credible allegation of public corruption. They spoke on leaving the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia where the verdict was heard. They did not take questions. The defense team did not appear on camera.
