Robert Byrd Becomes Longest Serving Member of Congress
On November 18 became the longest serving Member of Congress having served in the House since 1953 and the Senate since 1958. The Video Library is replete with many appearances of Robert Byrd who was the Senate Majority Leader when the Archives began in 1987.
