The National Press Club held a briefing on the statuses of three U.S. journalists detained abroad. Austin Tice was kidnapped in Syria in August 2012 while doing freelance work, and the Wall Street Journal's Evan Gershkovich and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Alsu Kurmasheva were arrested by the Russian government in March and October of 2023, respectively. NPC President Emily Wilkins interviewed the mother of Mr. Tice as well as colleagues of Mr. Gershkovich and Ms. Kurmasheva. Each of these guests took turns discussing efforts to bring the journalists home, which included meetings with President Biden, raising public awareness, and pushing the U.S. government to work toward their release. This event occurred on World Press Freedom Day.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), spoke at an event hosted by Georgetown University Law School. They stressed the importance of the ERA, expressed how many progressive issues involving inclusivity fall under it, and how many of these issues have become mainstream among states. Additionally, they discussed how not fortifying the amendment could leave it open to scrutiny by the Supreme Court. Currently, 35 of the required 38 states have ratified the amendment.

Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), Bil Cassidy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) discussed the current state of politics during a conversation at a Milken Institute conference in Los Angeles.
