Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich addressed a STEWARD (Save the Economy Without Accumulating Record Debt) conference on grassroots communication at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. In his remarks he said he was working with fellow conservative leaders to develop a new "Contract with America." He also said Democrats were probably in more trouble this year than in 1994, with the economy in much worse shape, unemployment at record levels, the Saudis and Chinese holding a "sobering amount" of the country's debt, and terrorists trying to kill Americans.
