Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor spoke about selecting state judges at a day-long conference on state courts and recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings. In her remarks she said the recent campaign finance ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission creates "a problem for an independent judiciary" if more corporate spending in campaigns for state judgeships becomes prevalent.
