Nicole Gelinas talked about her book After the Fall: Saving Capitalism from Wall Street - and Washington (Encounter Books; November 24, 2009). She argues that government interference in the market over the past 25 years has hindered the proper working of our financial system, eventually leading to the 2008 crisis. She says that we need to return to a financial system controlled by market discipline in which bad businesses are allowed to fail instead of being bailed out. Nicole Gelinas is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor at City Journal.
