Former FCC chairs Reed Hundt and William Kennard discussed the future of the commission under President-Elect Obama's new administration. Moderator Gigi Kohn listed ideas generated in previous sessions for FCC reform, which included becoming more innovation- and data-driven; increased diversity, transparency, and academic and public input; and personnel who promote the public interest. Mr. Hundt and Mr. Kennard were then asked to talk about which suggestions they liked or disliked and how each would reform the FCC. Afterward, they responded to written questions submitted by audience members.
This was a keynote event of the conference "Reforming The Federal Communications Commission" held at the National Press Club.
