Two incumbents, 13-term Democratic Congressman Stenholm and freshman Republican Congressman Neugebauer, as well as Libertarian candidate Peterson, debated in a campaign for the newly redrawn 19th District. Among the topics they addressed were the state of the economy, healthcare, taxes, and security concerns. The debate, sponsored by Lubbock Independent School District and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, was held in Texas Tech University's Allen Theater.
