President Zachary Taylor in Louisiana
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2011 LCV Cities Tour” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on November 27-December 2 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Cox Communications local cable affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. Lieutenant Colonel Zachary Taylor supervised construction of the Pentagon Barracks and served as its commander. Topics included how President Taylor became well known, his accomplishments, how he came to live in Louisiana, and how he is remembered there.
