Panelists talked about the history and impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Among the issues they addressed were medical research into detection and prevention, education programs, public attitudes and bias toward the disease, and challenges to developing more effective AIDS policies. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience.

The event was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the first New York Times story about a rare, often rapidly fatal form of cancer afflicting gay men and the eventual recognition of the disease as a worldwide pandemic.

Some language may be offensive to viewers. Mr. Kramer walked off the stage approximately 40 minutes into the program. close
