A hearing was held on the proposed fiscal year 2010 budget for programs for veterans. Witnesses testified about the $112.8 billion budget for 2010, which was a $15 billion boost from the previous year. It included provisions to fund the new Post 9/11 GI Bill and allow a gradual expansion of health care eligibility to veterans whose injuries were not service-related (Group 8). It also provided for an expansion of 550,000 new enrollees by 2013, due to the Priority Group 8 veterans. close
