He focused on the normally ignored details of life at that time, including the meaningless of 1000 A.D. around the world as relatively few used the Christian calendar. Topics included religious beliefs, superstition, medicine, cuisine, agriculture, and politics, as well as contemporary ideas of the self and society. He also talked about other books that he had written about English history. Following his presentation, he answered questions from the audience. close
