Ed Rendell, former governor of Pennsylvania and mayor of Philadelphia, argues that many politicians are more interested in securing office than working for their constituents. He contends that both Republicans and Democrats are guilty of focusing on poll numbers rather than obtaining relevant information on the issues of the day. Former Governor Rendell talked about the problems with the political divide and lack of bipartisan cooperation and told anecdotes from the political scene to explain why United States leaders rarely make sacrifices for the greater good. He responded to quetions from members of the audience at the Free Library of Philadelphia. close
