The nation’s governors discussed the role of education in a state’s economic development. Guest speakers included Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), who as the ranking member of the Senate committee on education, addressed congressional legislation. He was also a former governor of Tennessee and the secretary of Eduction for President George H. W. Bush.

“Pathway to Work: The Role of Education in Economic Development” was a meeting of the Education and Workforce Committee at the National Governors Association’s annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. The committee was chaired by Governor Steve Beshear (D-KY) and Governor Brian Sandval (R-NV) was the vice chair. close
