Female Democratic candidates spoke on the rise of women in national House and Senate races during the final portion of the second evening of proceedings in the 1992 Democratic National Convention in New York, NY. Kathleen Brown, Gov. Barbara Roberts, and Carol Moseley Braun lauded the emergence and prevalence of women on the national political scene in 1992 and discussed the prominent issues facing candidates in the fall election. Following Ms. Braun’s remarks, Gov. Ann Richards called forward Democratic women candidates running for the House in 1992, who then filled the stage and acknowledged the cheers of the convention delegates. Entertainer Melissa Manchester sang briefly in honor of the female candidates, and Rabbi Goldstein closed the evening’s proceedings with an invocation.
