Karenna Gore Schiff was interviewed by her mother, Tipper Gore, about her book Lighting the Way: Nine Women Who Changed Modern America, published by Miramax Books. The book is about the lives of nine women who were behind major political movements in America: Ida B. Wells Barnett, Mother Jones, Dr. Alice Hamilton, Frances Perkins, Virginia Durr, and lesser known social reformers, educators, and health workers. Ms. Schiff detailed the humanitarian efforts of some of the women and explained how they balanced their family and work lives. After their presentation, both women answered audience members' questions.

Ms. Schiff is the eldest daughter of former Vice President Al Gore. close
