Mr. McClellan spoke to reporters about a congressional compromise on the reauthorization of the Patriot Act. He discussed President Bush’s meeting with the Chancellor of Austria and with House Republicans. Among the other topics he discussed were efforts to combat terrorism, preparations for Iraqi elections, and security in Iraq. Following his remarks, Mr. McClellan responded to questions and comments from the reporters. He addressed support for Iraq by some members of the Democratic Party and the use of torture by the United States. close
