In this portion of the daily White House briefing, White House spokesman Jay Carney said the president would “welcome” congressional action on a three month extension of the debt ceiling. The House was expected to vote the next day on a measure that would extend the debt ceiling until May 19, 2013. He said President Obama supported eliminating the debt ceiling as an issue, but “would not stop in the way” of the House bill becoming law. He also responded to a question on global climate change. close
