White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan joined Press Secretary Jay Carney at the White House daily briefing. Mr. Brennan told reporters that the killing of Osama bin Laden was “a defining moment in the war against al-Qaeda, the war on terrorism by decapitating the head of the snake known as al-Qaeda.” He also described how he and President Obama as well as other members of the national security team viewed this “tense” U.S. military operation and the decision to carry it out was one of the “gutsiest” decisions made by a president. Following Mr. Brennan, Mr. Carney answered more questions about Osama bin Laden. close
