Ms. Santiago talked about her book, When I Was Puerto Rican, published by Random House. She focused on her life from San Juan, Puerto Rico to the barrios of Brooklyn, New York, and the hardships she endured on her way to attending Harvard University. She also focused on why she chose to write the book and her development as a writer. After the interview, she answered questions from the audience.
