Jack Cashill talked about his book What’s the Matter with California?: Cultural Rumbles from the Golden State and Why the Rest of Us Should Be Shaking, published by Threshold Editions. In the book, Mr. Cashill argues that California is becoming increasingly divided along cultural lines and that this trend is harmful for the state. He wrote the book in response to Thomas Frank’s book What’s the Matter with Kansas?, in which he was included although he has never lived in Kansas. Mr. Cashill told stories from the book and his previous works. He responded to questions from members of the audience

Mr. Cashill, executive editor of Ingram’s Magazine, is the author of Ron Brown’s Body; Hoodwinked: How Intellectual Hucksters Have Hijacked American Culture; and Sucker Punch: The Left Hook that Dazed Ali and Killed King’s Dream.
