Officials talked with reporters about year-end weather statistics and trends in the U.S. They said that data shows that the climate of the earth is changing and growing warmer faster than had been predicted. They talked about the severe weather in the U.S. in 1999, including several hurricanes, severe tornadoes and others. John Kelly, Director of the National Weather Service, announced the top ten weather events of the twentieth Century which included several hurricanes and El Nino. After their prepared remarks the officials took questions from the media. close
