Manthia Diawara discussed his memoir We Won’t Budge: An African Exile in the World, published by Basic Civitas. The title is the name of a song from his home land of Mali that has become a protest anthem against human rights abuses. His book discusses his journey from Africa and describes the different experiences he has had as an African immigrant in France and the United States. Mr. Diawara read two passages from his book and answered questions from members of the audience. close
