Matthew Spalding talked about his book We Still Hold These Truths: Rediscovering Our Principles, Reclaiming Our Future (Intercollegiate Studies Institute; October 15, 2009). A constitutional expert and project leader for the First Principles initiative, he talked about the founding principles of the nation and explored how he says the government got off track and how it can return to its roots. He focused on the expansion of the powers of the federal government and the centralization of authority. He responded to questions from members of the audience. The talk was hosted by the Heritage Foundation at noon December 4, 2009, in Washington, D.C.
