Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Dunham talked about his recent trips to Iowa and New Hampshire. Mr. Harris talked about the Oregon Senate race results. In the newspaper roundtable, Lord Owen and Mr. Eagleburger talked about President Chirac’s visit and other foreign policy issues. Lord Owen is the author of Balkan Odyssey. In the next segment, Mr. Faleomavaega talked about his objections to French nuclear testing in the South Pacific. In the last segment, Representatives Geren and Blute talked about the need for bipartisan cooperation to resolve the budget impasse and the need for civility on the House floor. close
