Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Sandalow talked about the California primary, including the presidential race and several referenda. In the newspaper roundtable, Attorneys General Edmondson and Montgomery talked about criminal justice issues. In the next segment, Governor Thompson and Mr. Gerstner talked about the goals of the National Governors' Association 1996 Education Summit. In the next segment, Ms. Kuczynski talked about how the Federal Reserve operates and a General Accounting Office about Federal Reserve operations. In the last segment, Ms. Willner talked about educational technology. She showed three examples of how computers can help instruct students.
