Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers, and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Thomas Galvin talked about current issues including the upcoming presidential primaries. In the newspaper roundtable, Sen. Bill Paxon and Rep. Charles Rangel talked about current issues including the latest events in the Republican primary races. In the following segment, Rep. John Ensign, Bernie Horn, Rep. John LaFalce, and Bill Sittmann discussed different aspects of the gambling industry in the United States. Anne Swardson participated in the discussion by telephone. Mr. Fisher discussed the effects of the gaming industry on the city of Joliet, IL by telephone. Earl Grinols talked about the economic effects of the gaming industry. close
