Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Tim Russert of NBC News, talked about the morning headlines including Whitewater and issues that will affect the elections in November. In the next segment, Librarian of Congress James Billington and Robert Zich, Electronic Programs Director, Library of Congress, talked about the implementation of the Library of Congress’s files onto the World Wide Web. In the newspaper roundtable, Eric Alterman of The Nation and Eric Felten of the Washington Times, talked about current issues including educational issues and Whitewater events. In the next segment, Rick Boylanof the DNC, and Jack Connors of the RNC, talked about possible presidential primary reforms. Dan Balz of the Washington Post, participated by remote connection. close
