C-SPAN’s Washington Journal examined current news and political issues through reviews of newspapers, interviews and legislators, and viewer comments. C-SPAN’s Connie Doebele hosted the program and moderated conversations with guests on the show. Those guests included Ronald Blackburn-Moreno, chairman of the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, who spoke on issues his organizations congressional agenda. In the Newspaper Roundtable segment, Andrew Young, author and former ambassador, and Brian Jones, founder of the Center for New Black Leadership, discussed stories they found significant in the day’s news. Frank Newport, the editor-in-chief of The Gallup Poll, spoke by phone about the upcoming presidential debate. San Diego Police Chief Jerry Sanders also spoke by remote on preparations his department made for the debate in his city. Lastly Republican National Committee Director of Communications, Ed Gillespie responded to viewer comments on the campaign and debates. close
