Glenn Greenwald, a former constitutional lawyer, and David Rivkin, a former Justice Department official in the Reagan administration, talked about the new warrantless wiretapping law that President Bush signed Sunday, August 5, 2007. The new Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) law gives the National Security Agency the right to wiretap international phone calls and electronic mail without warrants. The NSA no longer needs to go to a special intelligence court to obtain approval for such wiretaps. The bill expires in six months. The Senate passed the bill (S. 1927) 60-28 on Friday and the House passed it on Saturday 227-183. The guests responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.
