Authors talked about the current situation in Afghanistan. They responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.

Seth Jones is the author of In the Graveyard of Empires: America’s War in Afghanistan (W. W. Norton & Company; July 6, 2009). He is a political scientist at the RAND Corporation and an adjunct professor at Georgetown and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.

Mark Moyar is the author of A Question of Command: Counterinsurgency from the Civil War to Iraq (Yale University Press; October 20, 2009). A professor at the Marine Corps University, he is also the author of Triumph Forsaken: The Vietnam War, 1954-1965 and Phoenix and the Birds of Prey: Counterinsurgency and Counterterrorism in Vietnam. close
