James Carroll talked about his book House of War: The Pentagon and the Disastrous Rise of American Power, published by Houghton Mifflin. In his book Mr. Carroll chronicled the growth of U.S. military power from World War II to the present. He proposed that the Pentagon was the most influential institution in American history and operates under little or no authority. After Mr. Carroll’s presentation, writer George Scialabba responded to the author’s remarks. This event was hosted by the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, where Mr. Scialabba was an affiliate. Following the presentation they responded to questions from the audience. close
