The panelists talked about the phenomenon of strategically directed terror in militarized conflicts. Dexter Filkins talked about Iraq and Afghanistan from 1998-2008 and focused on the daily life of the civilians. Max Kennedy talked about the different philosophical approaches to war between Japan and the United States in World War II. They answered questions from the audience.

Dexter Filkins is the author of the book The Forever War, published by Knopf. Max Kennedy is the author of Danger’s Hour: The Story of the USS Bunker Hill and the Kamikaze Pilot Who Crippled Her published by Simon and Schuster.
