President Bill Clinton and others participated in a ground-breaking ceremony for a monument to World War II veterans. They talked about the valor and sacrifices of World War II veterans and commented on the appropriateness of the location and need for the memorial. In his remarks President Clinton paid tribute to recent casualties from a terrorist attack on the USS Cole and praised those who had raised the funds to build the memorial.
