Geraldine Brooks is the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book March: A Novel, published by Viking, which imagines the Civil War experiences of Mr. March, the absent father in Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. Walter McDougall is the author of Throes of Democracy: The American Civil War Era 1829-1877, published by Harper. Drew Gilpin Faust is the author of This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War, published by Knopf. close
