The three candidates for the Governor of West Virginia went to Huntington, West Virginia for the debate. Wallace Johnson (Libertarian), Charlotte Pritt (Democratic), and Cecil Underwood (Republican) took questions from a panel of journalists and one high school student and made opening and closing statements. They were looking to replace Governor Gaston Caperton (D) who was retiring as required by the state constitution after serving two full terms as governor. close
