Ambassador Ahmed reacted to remarks by both Secretary of State Rice and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, saying that genocide was continuing in Sudan. Secretary-General Annan has asked the United States to contribute troops to the effort in Sudan. The ambassador responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.
