Vietnam Ambassador to the United States Le Cong Phung talked about current relations between Vietnam and the U.S. In his remarks he focused on how cooperation between the two countries has improved since relations were normalized in 1995. He said that there was over $14 billion in trade between the 2 countries last year and there are now 12,000-13,000 Vietnam students studying in U.S. schools. He responded to questions from the audience, which included trade experts, U.S. military officials, and company representatives with interests in Vietnam. Drew Thompson of the Nixon center moderated the event.
