Witnesses testified on efforts to institute a ratings system for violence and sex in video games. Congressman Lantos described legislation he is introducing in the House which will set a government mandate for a ratings system if game manufacturers do not voluntarily police themselves. Industry officials discussed their efforts thus far to limit and control violence in video games.
