Democratic presidential nominee spoke to supporters in the state convention center in Little Rock in the wee hours of the morning after election day, when returns indicated he was elected president of the U.S. The families of Gov. Clinton and Sen. Gore joined them on a small stage to acknowledge the applause of an enthusiastic crowd. Hoarse from laryngitis, Gov. Clinton thanked his supporters and pledged to instill pride for country in the U.S. population. Sen. Gore briefly spoke following Gov. Clinton.} Following their remarks, Gov. Clinton and Sen. Gore entered the crowd to shake hands with supporters as the PA played, “Power to the People,” by John Lennon and confetti fell from the ceiling.
