As part of a project sponsored by C-SPAN to encourage dialog between students and national figures, Van Jones talked to students at the School Without Walls in Washington, D.C., about careers in government.

Van Jones is President Obama’s chief adviser for “green jobs” on the White House Council on Environmental Quality. He talked about his political career and the opportunities within federal government.

Mr. Jones previously worked as a community organizer. He founded Green for All, an organization devoted to promoting green jobs in urban environments, and the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, which worked to reduce the youth prison population in California. close
