At a forum hosted by the Federalist Society and the James Madison Center for Free Speech former Senator Eugene McCarthy (D-Minnesota) talked about his efforts in the 1976 Supreme Court case of Buckley v. Valeo which established that campaign contributions were protected as free speech under the First Amendment. He also talked generally about free speech and the history of campaigns. After his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
