Medical officials spoke to reporters about flu shot priorities. They discussed how those in high-risk groups, along with Hurricane Katrina evacuees, would receive top priority. The officials also spoke about topics including threats by recent strains of influenza, Medicare reimbursements, and possible shortages. After their presentation they responded to questions and comments from telephone callers and members of the audience. 

It was also announced that the flu vaccine would be made available to the rest of the public starting on October 24, 2005.
