Panelists discussed the impact of BookTV on the literacy movement. They spoke about a recent report from the National Endowment for the Arts that claimed that reading in the U.S. is in decline. They spoke about the relation between literature and other forms of communication and entertainment. The panelists discussed the role of television in book promotion, the connections between television appearances and sales, and the impact of BookTV on sales of books about public policy. All panelists answered questions from members the audience after the discussion. Book TV’s Senior Executive Producer Connie Doebele also contributed from the audience.
