Governor Christine Todd Whitman (R-New Jersey) chaired this discussion of environmental protection and utility service issues. Governors discussed policies on ten different environmental issues, including Superfund, air and water pollution and agricultural policy. Several guests made presentations on allowing more competition in the utility industry, especially at the retail level, and how states will have to change their laws to accomplish this. Then, several governors made presentations on environmental initiatives in their states. close
