Robert Norrell talked about his book Up from History: The Life of Booker T. Washington (Belknap Press; January 19, 2009). The book examines the black activist’s political and social ideologies and the criticism he endured from African-American intellectuals, including W.E.B. Du Bois. Following his remarks Mr. Norrell responded to questions from the audience.
