Anita Roddick, the founder of The Body Shop, talked to students about her book Business As Unusual: The Triumph of Anita Roddick, published by Thorsons, and about her career. Ms. Roddick explained how to make a business profitable without forgetting about social responsibilities and human values. She discussed the importance of helping poor people in society by buying products from communities in economic risk. Ms. Roddick also talked about the lack of interest in the public good and urged customers to become corporate watchdogs. She showed slides from her business trips around the world and talked about what she learned from them. After her remarks she answered questions from the audience. close
