In Unequal Democracy: The Political Economy of the New Gilded Age (Princeton University Press, April 27, 2008) Larry Bartels wrote about how politics drives inequality in America. He argues that while both parties cater to the rich, Republicans have done more to increase inequality than the Democrats. Professor Bartels and two other experts in the field, Professors Suzanne Mettler and Martin Gilens, spoke on the social implications of rising economic inequality at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York City.

Larry M. Bartels is the director of the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton University. close
