Two veteran editors talked about what it was like in the newsroom when the news was the kidnapping and murder of one of their own reporters. In 2002 Wall Street Journal correspondent Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and killed in Pakistan. At time Paul Steiger was the managing editor and Barney Calame was the deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal. Russ Mitchell moderated and the panelists answered audience members' questions.

This was the first event of a four-part series “Journalism Under Fire,” co-sponsored by The New School and the Missouri School of Journalism New York Program. It was held in Swayduck Auditorium at the New School. close
