Wangari Maathai talked about her book Unbowed: A Memoir, published by Anchor. She was interviewed on stage about her life and the work she did that led to her being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004. In 1977, defying political pressure, Wangari Maathai established the Green Belt Movement to provide both an income to rural African women and to save the indigenous forest of her home land. Thirty years later, millions of trees have been planted across Africa by these women. close
